Felix Rosenqvist remains unbeaten this weekend at Hockenheim after taking pole position for race one of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship round in Germany, having earlier topped both free practice sessions.
Swede Rosenqvist, driving this year for multiple series champions Prema Powerteam, revealed that he was looking for a clear track to set his best time, which is not easy with thirty-five cars on the entry list, and was relieved to be able to secure pole position.
“I waited relatively long before going out onto the track, but then the red flag interrupted my effort,” revealed Rosenqvist. “After the restart, we waited again before I mainly focussed on finding a clear lap. That wasn’t easy and I just had one lap without traffic.
“I managed to complete that one without any mistakes and that was enough to secure pole position. Certainly, waiting was a risk, but it worked out nicely for us. In such a huge field like this, the clear lap undoubtedly was the key to secure first place on the grid.”
Rosenqvist has now topped every qualifying session this season, although he lost his times for races two and three at Silverstone following a technical infringement.
