Carl Fogarty confirmed as Isle of Man TT VIP guest

1 Mins read

Four-time World Superbike Champion, Carl Fogarty, has been confirmed as the guest of honour in the TT VIP Club at this year’s Isle of Man TT.

Fogarty is the most successful WSBK rider in history with 59 wins from 219 starts. Unfortunately Fogarty’s career was cut short due to a shoulder injury, caused when he suffered a huge crash at Philip Island in 2000.

The newly-crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ also had success on the Isle of Man roads, winning the 1988 750cc Production Race before going on to win both the Formula 1 and Senior events in 1990.

He was also involved in what many believe to be the greatest TT race in history, the 1992 Senior Race, as he battled Steve Hislop for victory.

The pair broke lap records across the six-lap race, as they both tried to pull away from one another. After switching positions during the pit-stops it was Hislop who eventually caught Fogarty and took the chequered flag on his Norton machine.

Ahead of his visit to this year’s TT, Fogarty said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back to the Isle of Man and seeing what’s going to be a brilliant race day.  I’m still incredibly proud of my TT wins and they mean the most to me out of all of my race victories. It’s great to see the resurgence in the event and that a TT win has to be earned again and Wednesday’s packed race day looks brilliant with three races in a packed programme. The food will also be much better than I had in the jungle as well!”

Fogarty will join those fans who have purchased the Platinum TT VIP Hospitality Package at their table and present them with a limited edition souvenir before sharing all of his racing experiences from his successful career, both on the track and on the roads.

The first practice sessions for the 2015 Isle of Man TT get underway this Saturday, with the first day of qualifying taking place on Monday 1 June.
