Formula E to demo at the Pau Grand Prix

1 Mins read

The FIA Formula E cars will make an appearance at the Pau Grand Prix this weekend as part of a promotion for the series going forward. It will be the first time the Spark-Renault SRT_01E car will be driven around the track and will run demonstrations alongside the FIA European Formula 3 races.

The cars will go out in pairs and will be driven around in four sessions over the two day weekend with a combination of three drivers.

Esteban Ocon, who currently races in the GP3 Series will drive a Formula E car for the first time. The 18 year old recently competed at the Formula 1 test in Barcelona for the Sahara Force India team. While it will be his first time in the car, he does have experience at the circuit, having won the race last year on his way to the European Formula 3 title.

He will be joined by fellow countryman; Mike Parisy. The 30 year old grew up around the streets of Pau and has had experience in the FIA GT3 and the Porsche Carrera Cup.

Alongside these two will be Jerome d’Ambrosio. The experienced Formula E driver currently lies sixth in the championship, as the highest placed driver without a win, which the Dragon Racing driver will be hoping to fix before the end of the season.

All three will take part in the event in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in south western France. The Pau race is one with plenty of history having been run since 1930 and continuing to be a large part of the Formula 3 calendar.
