Giovinazzi satisfied with Hockenheim weekend

1 Mins read

Antonio Giovinazzi was delighted to leave Hockenheim still in the lead of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship after three more visits to the podium.

The Italian, driving for Jagonya Ayam with Carlin, added a third place to his earlier win and third during Sunday’s final race of the weekend, inheriting the podium spot on the final lap when Maximilian Günther spun his Mücke Motorsport machine at turn one.

He thanked his team for their efforts, and insisted he was looking to continue his strong start to the season at the legendary street circuit of Pau in two weeks time.

“Three weeks ago I left England as the leader of the Championship and now I’m doing the same thing also in Germany,” said Giovinazzi. “I couldn’t be more satisfied: one victory and two third places, to add to the three previous podiums, are really a great result.

“Unfortunately, to be started from 3rd row has conditioned the whole race, also because remain behind the safety car caused me a great initial gap from the head of the race. But, once more, I felt myself at ease on the wet and I recovered 3 places to get third.

“This is another great result to give to my team, to my technicians and, above all, to Mr. Ricardo Gelael of KFC Jagonya Ayam. We are all ready to do again our best in France, on next round in Pau in two weeks.”
