Birchall Brothers Complete Sidecar TT Double

1 Mins read

Ben and Tom Birchall broke their own Sidecar TT race record to take their second victory of the 2015 Isle of Man TT. The sibling pairing had already clocked the fastest sidecar race of all time earlier this week but smashed the record by another fifteen seconds to see off Dave Molyneux and Ben Binns.

The Birchalls set their stall out from the very first lap with a 115.549mph run, four seconds faster than Molyneux and Binns with John Holden and Dan Sayle holding third. All three crews topped 116mph second time around as the record pace continued but Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance were forced to retire at Glen Auldyn, ending their podium hopes for the second time this week.

Molyneux and Binns avoided a repeat of the problems which took them out of race one but the gap between themselves and the Birchalls would eventually stabilise at seven seconds. Molyneux threw everything at the leaders, even breaking the Sidecar lap record on the final tour, but the Birchalls were just 0.025s slower themselves and held on for victory.

Holden and Sayle took their second podium of the week in third with Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott missing out on their second rostrum by sixteen seconds in fourth. Ian and Carl Bell were fifth while Matt Dix and Shaun Parker set their first ever 110mph lap of the mountain course on their way to sixth.
