Fielding: “It’s Great To Get This Breakthrough Win”

1 Mins read

Sennan Fielding hopes he can now put a tough start to the season behind him and enjoy a positive spell in MSA Formula after taking his maiden victory at Oulton Park yesterday (6th June).

The win came in dominant fashion for the JHR Developments racer, as he stormed from third on the grid into the lead into the first corner, before building a three second lead on the opening lap that he would maintain throughout the race.

“We’ve had a tough season so far, so I think both me and the team really needed this win,” Fielding told TCF after the podium celebrations.

“We had some brake issues in the first race so we had to fit new discs and bits which is risky for a race as you don’t know how long they’ll take to come in.

“It was all down to the start though, I was able to get from third to first and build a lead straight away, so then I could keep my head down, set consistent times and bring it home.”

As Fielding alludes to, the victory comes as a huge relief after a tougher than anticipated start to the season, a host of issues in the opening three weekends having limited the former McLaren Autosport BRDC Award finalist to just one previous podium finish.

“From the first day JHR put the car on track in pre-season we have been right on the pace, but there’s just been some technical issues in the early meetings that have stopped us from getting the results we’ve wanted,” he added.

It’s been an extremely challenging season so far and we’ve had to work really hard in the team, so it’s great to get this breakthrough win and hopefully we can build on this now in the next few races.”
