James Pull leaves Cheshire’s Oulton Park with more points helping towards his MSA Formula championship campaign.
The 15 year-old, who drives for Joe Tandy Racing, finished the final race in 8th, which was a pleasing turn of events after suffering from a wheel lock-up two corners into the first race, forcing him to retire.
“It was quite a frustrating weekend for me, I struggled on the first corners early on and my first race ended early after my wheel locked.
“But I came back really strongly in the second race and then was really fast in the last one. It was good to end the final race and the weekend with some points.”
He had to start the second race from the back of the field, and skilfully moved up from P22 to P13 by the end of the race. This meant that he started the final race from 9th.
With a great start, he instantly took 7th, but gearbox issues towards the end of the race dropped him back to P9. Despite this, he still scored some points, and was even moved up to 8th when another driver was penalised.
“It wasn’t the best of weekends and it was made more difficult as it was my first time on a difficult track. But when I got used to the first few corners, things were a lot better.
“I’m hoping to improve for the next round. I know the potential is there, I just need a few things to click again and keep working hard and hopefully it will come together.”
