Metzeler unveil Guy Martin Special Edition tyre

1 Mins read

German tyre manufacturer, Metzeler, have announced a special edition of their Racetec RR tyre to celebrate the start of the 2015 Isle of Man TT and one of its most famous competitors.

The Racetec RR Guy Martin Special Edition tyre has been created to celebrate the courage and passion of Martin, who is one of the sport’s most iconic and well-known competitors.

For the 2015 event Martin will be on-board the Tyco BMW machine for both the Superbike and Superstock races before switching to the Smiths Triumph bike for the Supersport.

Martin has 15 TT podiums to his name and will be hoping for more success at this year’s event, which got underway this past Saturday.

The special edition version of the tyre is visibly different to the original, with Martin’s name etched onto the sidewall of the tyre. Martin’s skull and spanners logo can also be seen multiple times within the tread pattern.

The special tyres are available in 120/70 ZR17 (58W) at the front and in sizes 180/55 ZR17 (73W) and 190/55 ZR17 (75W) in the rear.

Fans of Metzeler tyres and Martin can watch a video online showing the development of this special tyre, told in first person by the racer himself.

The developmental story behind the special edition Racetec RR tyre can be found on http://racetecrr.metzeler.com, which is also where fans can get their hands on the new tyre from June 5.
