OlsbergsMSE Team Boss Banned From Two GRC Meetings

1 Mins read

Ford OlsbergsMSE team boss Andreas Eriksson has been banned from attending the next two 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship events that are to be held at the X Games in Austin, TX and at Daytona, FL.

The decision has been taken by the series organisers after comments that were made by Eriksson during last weekends opening GRC event held at Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The comments made stem from an incident during the weekend where 2014 Champion Joni Wiman landed his Ford Fiesta Super hard after the artificial jump, after which he complained of back troubles.

After Wiman spoke with the Series Doctor regarding his fitness to race on Sunday, The Series Doctor told Wiman he could not take part in the Sunday programme of the Semi-Finals, Last Chance Qualifier and the Final.

Due to comments made by Eriksson following this decision, the series organisers have taken the step to penalise the Ford OlsbergsMSE team boss in the wake of his comments, meaning that he cannot attend the X Games event that takes place this weekend in Austin, TX, where ironically regular WorldRX driver Andreas Bakkerud will pilot the SH Rallycross Fiesta as he replaces regular driver Nelson Piquet Jr., as well as being banned from the following event at Daytona. Both Joni Wiman and Sebastian Eriksson are due to compete in the Games and the Daytona GRC event.

The penalty does not affect the participation of the team in the Red Bull GRC, nor does it affect the teams participation in the FIA World Rallycross Championship where they field a three car team for Bakkerud, Reinis Nitiss and Double European Rallycross Champion Timur Timerzyanov.
