1 Mins read

Race 1 of the Oulton Park round of the 2015 MSA Formula championship was won by Ricky Collard, ahead of Lando Norris and Colton Herta.

Collard took the lead into Old Hall on the first lap, and led Norris by 0.5s by the end of the opening lap. Toby Sowery retired after a couple of laps, having crashed off, causing the safety car to come out until lap 6.

With nine minutes left at the restart, Collard made another strong push off the line, once again leading into the first corner. The top six remained unchanged after the restart and was: Ricky Collard, Lando Norris, Rafael Martins, Colton Herta, Matheus Leist and Jack Barlow.

By lap 8, Norris had closed the gap to the leader to just 0.3s, but still couldn’t pass Collard. On the following lap, Herta managed to pass Martins to take third place at the hairpin. Despite setting the fastest lap near the end of the race, Norris was still stuck behind Collard.

The race ended with Collard 0.447 seconds ahead of Norris, and Herta a further 0.581s behind.

Race two will take place at 17:50, with Daniel Baybutt set to start from pole.
