Team Peugeot-Hansen are looking forward to this weekend’s fifth round of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship thats takes place at the historic Estering circuit in Germany with the team and their drivers Timmy Hansen and Davy Jeanney in a confident mood.
In the four week gap since the fourth round of WorldRX at Lydden Hill in the UK nearly a month ago, the team has been testing both of their Peugeot 208 WRXs at the Holjes circuit in Sweden, in preparation for a return to action in the series’ second visit to Germany this year, followed by the sixth round taking place at the Swedish circuit.
The team spent the test session taking the time to try out different test setups in a bid to close up the gap on the front-running teams of Ford Olsbergs MSE, SDRX, Volkswagen Team Sweden and EKSRX.
Both Hansen and Jeanney will be looking to capitalise on this new knowledge at the Estering this weekend with both drivers looking to score a large haul of points to get into the Drivers’ Title fight and the Teams’ Trophy battle. Currently Hansen and Jeanney sit in 4th and 9th places respectively, whilst Team Peugeot-Hansen lies in third place in the Teams’ Trophy behind leaders Ford Olsbergs MSE and second place SDRX.
Team Principal Kenneth Hansen is confident ahead of this weekends event: “Estering is one of the classic rallycross venues, and a special place that we know well. Its layout is pretty much the opposite to what we encountered last time out at Lydden Hill. There is absolutely no margin for error here, with barriers all around the circuit and a treacherous first corner. Contact is commonplace. That said, I feel very confident. The testing that we conducted recently enabled us to improve the car further, and we hope to convert that into some strong results at Estering.”
