Japanese racer Yu Kanamaru set the pace during the Friday free practice sessions ahead of this weekend’s EuroFormula Open round at Silverstone.
The Emilio de Villota Motorsport driver set the best time of the day during the second of the three practice sessions, which saw everyone bar Antoni Ptak set their quickest times.
Kanamaru’s time of 1m55.966s was over half a second faster than the rest of the field, with Alessio Rovera of BVM Racing second quickest, 0.575s back.
Diego Menchaca was the fastest of the Campos Racing entries in third, just ahead of team-mate and current championship leader Konstantin Tereschenko, while the Team West-Tec F3 team-mates Yarin Stern and Tanart Sathienthirakul were fifth and sixth.
William Barbosa was seventh for BVM Racing, ahead of the leading RP Motorsport entries of Andres Saravia and Damiano Fioravanti in eighth and ninth, while DAV Racing’s Leonardo Pulcini completed the top ten.
John Simonyan is a noticeable absentee from this weekend’s proceedings, with the Russian driver having separated from RP Motorsport, with the team now seeking a replacement driver for his car.
