Ben Barker put in a fantastic performance in his MOMO-Megatron Team PARTRAX entry to secure fourth position at Silverstone during round four of the 2015 Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, after a weekend where the Briton shone.
His practice pace showed that the home crowd could remain hopeful for the weekend, with a fifth position time in the thirty car plus field an amazing achievement.
This evident pace would carry through to Saturday morning’s qualifying session but another impressive fifth position time, granting him a row three slot on the grid for Sunday’ race, was not sufficient for Barker to be fully satisfied. He comments “There were a couple of small mistakes, which potentially cost me third place on the grid.”
Whilst a podium would have been just reward for his efforts, a fraught race saw Barker only ultimately able to make up a solitary position. This should not be cause for disappointment though. He drove impeccably and it was only the canny driving of Lechner Racing Middle East driver Michael Ammermüller that denied Barker his much desired podium.
The series now heads for Hungary in three week’s time and Barker is optimistic of a positive result, declaring “I’m confident that the #10 car is in good shape and I’m already looking forward to Budapest.”
