Honda set to revive Africa Twin

1 Mins read

If you’re looking for a little off-road fun this year and are pretty nimble on two wheels, then you should definitely go no further than taking a look at Honda’s latest offering, the CRF1000L aka Africa Twin.

With heritage rich DNA, the original XRV750 Africa Twin debuted in 1989 and proceeded to take four successive wins at the world famous Paris-Dakar off-road rally. Since then Honda has built upon their success, putting their experience in to perfecting the Africa Twin.

New technology on the latest release includes the evolution of Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission, which is unique to the brand and helps provide a high level in off-road ability. With over 35,000 DCT-equipped bikes already sold it is clear that Honda is on to something with 53% of total sales in 2015 choosing the DCT over a standard manual transmission.

Team HRC made their return to the Dakar rally in 2013 and from this the all-new CRF1000L Africa Twin has been born, a true duel-purpose motorcycle which adds yet another milestone to the legendary brand.

In 2014 Honda announced their intentions for a new off-road focused touring motorcycle and the result of this was the CRF1000L. While the prototype was revealed last November at EICMA international motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, the new model is expected to be available to European customers later this year.

Check out the video below which is part of the True Adventure series to get a full insight in to the Honda Africa experience.
