Red Bull Junior Stoneman tops Red Bull Ring final practice

Red Bull Junior driver Dean Stoneman finished quickest in second practice at the Red Bull Ring, edging out session one pacesetter Tio Ellinas.

Stoneman, driving for DAMS, set a best time of 1m16.647s to set the pace ahead of a tightly packed field that saw the top fifteen covered by less than one second and the top twenty within 1.3 seconds.

Strakka Racing’s Cypriot racer Ellinas was 0.139s back in second, with Matthieu Vaxiviere third for Lotus ahead of Roberto Merhi of Pons Racing, the Frenchman beating the Spaniard by just 0.005s.

Tom Dillmann was fifth for Jagonya Ayam with Carlin ahead of Oliver Rowland of Fortec Motorsports, while Nicholas Latifi and Arden Motorsport made it seven different teams inside the top seven places.

Gustav Malja was eighth for Strakka Racing ahead of Tech 1 Racing’s Aurélien Panis, while Marlon Stockinger was tenth for Lotus on his return to the championship.
