There was disruption for a majority of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup grid yesterday as they faced the challenges of travelling to the United Kingdom from Europe.
Strike action at Calais from ferry companies and Eurotunnel employees meant huge traffic jams and delays in crossing the English channel and at one point the usual busy Supercup paddock only featured the UK based Porsche Carrera Cup GB teams plus the Almeras and PARTRAX teams who had somehow made it through.
While the chaos ensued, the championship organisers discussed their options and worked on a possible alternative schedule for the weekend. Thankfully the plan wasn’t needed as the situation eased at the terminals and the team trucks arrived at Silverstone near midnight last night.
With the trucks at the circuit it was then a battle against time for the Porsche hospitality unit to get set up ready for Friday breakfast; the team worked tirelessly throughout the night and as the team members and drivers arrived the coffee was in full flow.
