Webster talks Supercup – “Hopefully we’ll be in a good position to challenge.”

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster heads in to the Silverstone Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup weekend with an advantage over his fellow national drivers having taken part in the Grand Prix supporting race in 2014.

“I can’t wait. This will be my second year of doing the Supercup as I was fortunate enough to participate last year as well. In that respect it’s good because I know what to expect with the format of the sessions.” he said.

“We only get one practice and one qualifying session before going straight into the race, so it’s over and done with very quickly! It’s a matter of getting on it nice and early. The newer guys like myself and the rest of the British drivers get two new sets of tyres for practice as well as qualifying, so hopefully we’ll be in a good position to challenge.”

While Webster has the advantage with experience of the Supercup he remains realistic about the weekend ahead.

“The aim is the top ten, but top six and upwards would be fantastic. It’s a very competitive championship but it’s been very competitive in the GB series this year as well, so if we can challenge the top six or eight that would be awesome.”
