Jamie Chadwick says becoming a member of the British Racing Drivers Club “means a huge amount”, after being chosen to join the Rising Stars programme.
The former Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner has been making a huge impression in her maiden British GT campaign this season, leading the GT4 class alongside Ross Gunn in their Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage, with four class podiums so far.
It’s been double celebration for Chadwick who also passed her driving test recently – and there could be more joy this weekend as with a 42.5 point lead in the standings, the British GT4 title could be wrapped up at Snetterton.
“August is normally a quiet month for me, but this year it’s been fantastic!” Chadwick enthused. “I’ve achieved two of my most important goals – joining the prestigious BRDC and passing my driving test!
“The BRDC invitation means a huge amount, as it is such a respected and important organisation. I will do everything I can to be a successful Rising Star and representative of the Club.”
Only a small number of drivers aged 24 and under are selected for the invitation-only BRDC Rising Star programme, with Chadwick’s team-mate Gunn and fellow British GT drivers Ryan Ractliffe and Andrew Watson amongst the current members.
Gillian Carr, Club Secretary of the BRDC, commented: “The British Racing Drivers’ Club is extremely honoured to welcome Jamie onto our Rising Stars programme for young drivers.
“Her results with Beechdean Aston Martin in GT4 this year have been particularly impressive given it is her first season since moving up from Ginetta Juniors.
“It is clear that she has a bright future ahead of her and the BRDC look forward to supporting her career progression and welcoming her as a future member in due course.”
