Maisano ‘lost motivation’ ahead of Prema exit

Brandon Maisano left Prema Powerteam after the conclusion of the opening race of the Spielberg weekend of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship last weekend after losing the incentive to be fighting for positions outside the points.

According to team Manager Rene Rosin, Maisano had declared enough was enough to be fighting for positions amid the midfield, and came home 26th in race one at the Red Bull Ring before calling time on his Prema partnership that began back in 2012.

“It was an agreement, as declared in the press release, to stop racing,” said Rosin to Autosport.

“Brandon decided to stop racing because he didn’t have the motivation to race for 15th or 16th position anymore.

“It was not our decision. It was a decision made on performance.”

Maisano had yet to finish on the podium in 2015 for the team, with a best finish of fourth coming in the second race at Spa-Francorchamps, and currently sits twelfth in the championship standings, while his team-mates Felix Rosenqvist, Jake Dennis and Lance Stroll are second, fourth and seventh respectively.
