Oliphant Quickest Again In Knockhill Testing

1 Mins read

Championship leader Tom Oliphant continues to lead the way in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup with the fastest time in official pre-event Friday testing at Knockhill.

Fresh from four wins in the last six races, Oliphant has indicated he’s once again the man to beat in Scotland after posting the fastest time of the day with an effort of 51.642s, putting him top of the timesheets by over quarter of a second.

HHC Motorsport pairing Jamie Orton and Will Burns were next up, and they could hardly be separated with just one thousandth of a second splitting them at the end of the day. Tom Wrigley secured the fourth fastest time meanwhile, carrying his form over from a maiden win last time out.

Ollie Jackson had led the way in the opening session with a 52.100s effort, but a suspension failure at the first corner on his opening flying lap of FP2 led to heavy contact with the barriers – meaning he was the only driver in the field not to improve his time in the second session.

Carl Breeze had a relatively subdued day around a circuit he dominated at twelve months ago, but still ended up within half a second of the top in sixth position. Michael Caine was half a second further back in seventh, with Reece Somerfield within a tenth of a second of him.

The three AM class runners completed the eleven car field, with Colin White fastest but only by two tenths of a second from Osamu Kawashima, who’s tackling Knockhill for the first time. Fraser Robertson rounded out the field.

Full testing times can be found here.
