Smith “Proud” Of Progress And Podium At Snetterton

1 Mins read

Bradley Smith is targeting more podium success at Snetterton today (9th August) after securing a second consecutive top three finish in the opening Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup race yesterday afternoon.

The Mectech Motorsport ace followed up his maiden championship victory at Croft six weeks ago with a third place finish in the opening race of the second half of the season – benefiting from contact ahead to gain two places in the closing stages after running comfortably in fifth early on.

With no testing on-track between his Croft success and Friday testing in Norfolk, Smith is pleased with the progress he’s made over the course of the weekend.

“We haven’t been out in the car since Croft, so to come back this weekend and get a podium is fantastic. It proves that we’re really maximising every lap that we do get out on circuit,” Smith told TCF.

“The car has been really good grip wise this weekend, but we just had a small problem with the braking that was just enough to stop us closing the gap to Jamie [Orton], which hopefully we’ll get sorted out for tomorrow.

“I prefer the longer races and I feel we can come on strong as the races progress tomorrow. Over the short amount of laps this weekend we’ve closed the gap again to the front guys, we can only be proud of that and hopefully we can keep it up and give Tom [Oliphant] something to race for.”
