#23 – Zaid Ashkanani – P18, #24 – Alex Palou – P5, #25 – N/A
Alex Palou and Campos Racing recorded their best result of the season at Spa-Francorchamps. Yesterday, Palou finished 8th and today Spaniard driver should have started on pole position but there dud to penalties this was not the case. Jimmy Eriksson was handed a drive through penalty in yesterday’s race for a jump start but he served it during the Virtual Safety Car period, which is not allowed. Therefore, he had a twenty second time penalty and Palou moved up to seventh place. So, today he has started second on the grid.
Aleksander Bosak, the pole position holder, made a bad race start and Palou took advantage to move into the lead.
Palou led nine laps of a race that was marred by the safety car due to an incident. Palou managed to keep his rivals at bay until lap nine when Luca Ghiotto passed him for the lead. Tyre wear was becoming a major issue for Palou and he couldn´t defend his podium slot from Esteban Ocón, Alfonso Celis Jr. and Mathéo Tuscher. Finally Palou crossed the finish line in 5th position, his best result in the series to date.
For Ashkanani it was a quieter day, following losing a tyre on the lap to the grid, an uneventful race meant he eventually finished in 18th place.
