Making his way to the GP3 Series for the first time this weekend will be Belgian Amaury Bonduel, a 16-year-old prospect who has made his Formula Renault 2.0 debut this season after a successful karting career.
“I received a phone call just after the Belgian Grand Prix from Giacomo Ricci, team manager of Trident Motorsport in GP3 and GP2, which offered me a drive at Monza GP3,” said Bonduel.
“I normally would race the same weekend for the fourth round of the Eurocup FR 2.0 at Silverstone but I jumped at the opportunity to drive for Trident, a team with which I could make an appearance for in the three days of testing in Abu Dhabi in November.”
Lining up alongside him will be championship leader Luca Ghiotto – who will be the favourite with the Italian fans to win his home race – and Artur Janosz. Ghiotto is leading the standings with 154 points, 28 more than his closest opponent Esteban Ocon, thanks to three race wins and consistent points finishes.
Track action kicks off at 17:50 local time on Friday with practice, then on Saturday qualifying takes place at 9:45 and Race 1 is at 17:20 – with the final action of the weekend coming with Race 2 on Sunday at 9:25.
