Felipe Massa: “Suzuka is a historical track”

1 Mins read

Felipe Massa likens the Suzuka circuit in Japan to another historic circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, with the Japanese circuit offering a host of fast corners and quick changes of direction every lap.

The Williams Martini Racing driver feels the circuit isn’t the easiest track to master, but this just adds to the enjoyment factor that drivers have at Suzuka. Massa hopes the team are competitive this weekend, with the Brazilian looking to get back on track following his first retirement of 2015 last weekend in Singapore.

“Suzuka is like Spa in that it’s a historic track with fast corners, varying terrain and quick changes of direction,” said Massa. “It isn’t the easiest track but that’s why the drivers enjoy it so much.

“The Japanese fans are very dedicated to Formula One and are very friendly which creates a very welcoming atmosphere. The weather can play its part and be very unpredictable but we need to make sure that we are competitive whatever the conditions.”
