Ginetta GT4 Supercup

Host Of Fresh Faces For Supercup Silverstone Visit

1 Mins read

Five brand new drivers will be joining the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup grid at Silverstone next weekend, meaning the series will have a 20+ grid for the first time this season.

Headlining the new entries are two Nissan Playstation GT Academy winners, ‘International’ victor Matthew Simmons and ‘Asia’ champion Jose Gerard-Policarpio, who are using the meeting to gain track time ahead of the Dubai 24 Hours on 15-16 January 2016

Simmons and Policarpio, from Australia and the Phillipines respectively, are following in the footsteps of former GT Academy graduate Gaeten Paletou who competed in the Supercup at Thruxton earlier this year.

Fresh from wrapping up second place in the 2015 British GT4 Championship this past weekend at Donington Park, Graham Johnson will join the grid for the first time with Optimum Motorsport, while GT Cup regular Tom Hibbert will enter the action as a privateer entrant.

Ryan Hadfield was another in action at Donington, and after taking his maiden Ginetta GT5 Challenge win in Leicestershire, the former Ginetta Junior racer will make the next step up the ladder with family outfit R&J Motorsport.

Alongside the five new faces, there will be returns for Callum Pointon, the Ginetta GT5 Challenge race-winner having made his debut at Oulton Park, and Connaire Finn, who competed at both Oulton Park and Rockingham two weeks ago.

There is also a welcome return to the grid for former Supercup podium-finisher Carl Boardley, the four-time National Hot Rod World Champion making his first appearance since the end of the 2014 season.

With Jamie Orton, Michael Caine, Chris Ingram and Colin White all expected to be back in action after missing the last Supercup races at Rockingham, we’re looking set for a 21 car grid next weekend at the Home of British Motorsport.
