KCMG Stripped of LMP2 Pole at COTA

1 Mins read

KCMG, which had set the fastest qualifying times in LMP2 ahead of the 2015 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas, will instead have to start from the back of the pack following a penalty.

The trio of Richard Bradley, Matt Howson and Nicolas Lapierre, which had qualified with a 1:56.834, was penalised post-qualifying for “driving the car in the opposite direction of the track.”

This happened because Howson stalled at the steep pit exit, resulting in the car rolling backwards down the track before being towed back to the pitlane.

As a result of this, G-Drive Racing will start from LMP2 pole, with the #26 Ligier JS P2 – Nissan of Sam Bird, Roman Rusinov and Julien Canal.
