Mat Jackson: Ballast Will Make Race Two More Interesting

1 Mins read

Fresh from his second success of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season, Mat Jackson said that a good start in race one was key to his Silverstone triumph.

The Motorbase Performance man controlled the 22-lap opening race of the day at the national circuit, making a perfect getaway and pulling clear to add to his Rockingham race victory in the most recent meeting.

“It was a great result, everything went to plan in that race”, Jackson told The Checkered Flag after a second win in as many meetings.

“I got a good start luckily and from then on I could just control the race.”

The Motorbase Ford Focus ST will also start the second race of the day from pole position, Jackson having broken the race lap record on his way to a time of 58.464s.

Jackson will this time have to contend with the maximum penalty of 75kg success ballast in race two, but the 2008 BTCC runner-up remains confident in the race pace of the Focus.

“We’ll just have to see now how we get on with 75kg of ballast”, Jackson added on his race two chances.

“We were quick in that race but we had no weight, so we’ll see what happens. It’s going to be a lot more interesting.”

Despite having only competed in 10 BTCC races since returning at Snetterton, Jackson now sits 13th in the championship overall.
