Oliphant Sets Supercup Practice Pace At Rockingham

1 Mins read

Championship leader Tom Oliphant continues to be the pace-setter in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup after topping the timesheets in official practice at Rockingham.

Despite being one of only two drivers in the top seven not to improve their time in the second session of the day, Oliphant’s best effort of 1m 21.493s from the morning’s running proved to stand the test of time.

A return to form for Carl Breeze saw him finish two tenths of a second shy of Oliphant, just edging out his HHC Motorsport team-mates Will Burns and Jamie Orton – with just four hundredths of a second splitting the trio at the end of the day.

Tom Wrigley was firmly the best of the rest, the Rob Boston Racing driver’s best of 1m 21.868s putting him over half a second clear of Ollie Jackson and Michael Caine – though they both ended up within a second of the pace-setter.

Bradley Smith was only eighth fastest after only completing one lap in the second session, while Reece Somerfield had to settle for ninth after missing the whole of the first period on track – with both hoping the loss of circuit time won’t hamper them too much in qualifying.

In the AM class, Connaire Finn set the pace on his return to the category, finishing up 1.276s ahead of series regular Fraser Robertson, with Osamu Kawashima half a second further back.

Full testing results can be found here.
