Dale Earnhardt Jr. Invites Daniel Ricciardo to NASCAR

1 Mins read

As a result of a Twitter Q&A session, NASCAR‘s Dale Earnhardt Jr. has invited Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo to enter one of the series’ road course races.

The 12-time winner of the NASCAR Most Popular Driver award told Ricciardo that he is welcome to drive for Earnhardt’s JR Motorsports team, which races in the second-tier NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The Red Bull Racing driver, who currently sits eighth in the standings and has three wins to his name, replied soon, expressing his enthusiasm for the offer.

Earnhardt most recently finished second at Talladega Superspeedway after leading for much of the race. So far in 2015 he has won twice but dropped out of the Chase For The Sprint Cup after Sunday’s controversial finish.

His JR Motorsports team is performing well in the Xfinity Series, and full-season drivers Chase Elliott and Regan Smith are second and third in the championship respectively.

There are two road course races scheduled for 2016, at Watkins Glen International and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which is where Ricciardo would most likely be racing. These races are both in early August, during the F1 summer break.
