1 Mins read

Maximilian Günther has joined Prema Powerteam for the season finale of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, set to take place this weekend at Hockenheim.

The German driver will join 2015 champion Felix Rosenqvist, multiple race winner Jake Dennis and multiple podium finisher Lance Stroll in the team in Germany this weekend, having replaced Nick Cassidy, who is racing in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship decider this weekend.

Günther has rejoined the championship following his surprise departure from the Mücke Motorsport team after the Portimao weekend in September, having taken one victory at the Norisring and a podium finish in the Grand Prix de Pau. The eighteen-year-old is currently eighth in the championship standings and fifth in the rookies’ championship.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to climb into a Prema cockpit for the first time,” said Günther. “Prema Powerteam have long been one of the most successful teams in motor racing.

“I would like to thank them for the confidence they are showing in me. I’m excited about getting to know the guys better and also learning about the procedures in this team.

“Together with Mücke Motorsport, I can look back on a successful three years. I wish Peter Mücke and his team all the best and look forward to the next step in my career.”
