Ivor McCullough dominates to Claim Formula Ford Masters Trophy

Ivor McCullough will come away from the weekend with at least one piece of Silverware after he won the Formula Ford Masters event at a Sunny Brands Hatch.

After dominating qualifying, McCullough had the honour of starting on pole, with Andy Charsley lining up beside him. A good start for McCullough, saw him retain the lead into paddock, however; his joy was short lived after, an excellent get away from Richard Tarling saw the third place starter take the lead.

Tarling immediately pulled away as McCullough took his time to settle into a rhythm. However; the race was quickly turned on its head after Tarling was given a ten second penalty for being out of position at the start.

Things would get worse for Tarling as he was caught on the rear to be spun into the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend. He managed to recover, but was dropped down the order with all chance of a top eight finish long gone.

With no challenge, McCullough managed to build his lead and romped home to take the 2015 Formula Ford Masters Trophy. The battle for second built up over the course of the race with an incredible recovery drive from Charsley taking the podium from Jay Bridger.

Meanwhile; a recovery drive Robert Higgins saw him work his way up through the order with Martin Donnelly in front. However; a move around the outside of Paddock Hill bend allowed Higgins to claim fourth overall.

Meanwhile, Miles Johnston, a last minute entry, took sixth with David McCullough rounding out the top seven, having fallen down from his grid position.
