Matthiessen And JHR Seal Junior Class Championships

1 Mins read

Patrik Matthiesen secured the 2015 Ginetta Junior Championship Rookie Cup title and JHR Developments the Teams Championship across the season finale weekend at Brands Hatch.

HHC Motorsport’s Matthiesen headed into the weekend in a straight duel with Douglas Motorsport’s Stuart Middleton for the honours, with the former holding a 31 point advantage heading to Kent.

The momentum swung in Middleton’s favour with fifth place in the opening race as Matthiesen suffered a retirement after contact, but seventh in race two was enough to secure the Dane the honours regardless of the outcome of Middleton’s pending appeal.

Kyle Hornby, a two-time outright podium finisher, took third overall in class, while double Thruxton race-winner Sophia Floersch impressively finished up fourth ahead of Will Tregurtha despite missing the second half of the season.

In the Teams Championship, JHR and HHC headed into the meeting tied on points, meaning it was a straight shootout between the two across the final two races.

Despite victory for HHC’s Jamie Caroline in race one, a double podium for JHR’s Billy Monger and Dan Zelos meant they seized the advantage and victory for Senna Proctor in race two confirmed the title in their favour.

Fellow multi-car outfit R&J Motorsport were a clear third in the standings ahead of Total Control Racing, with Douglas Motorsport topping the single-car entrants in fifth overall.

The provisional final championship standings for all the classes can be found here.
