Win tickets to the 2015 Gymkhana GRiD FINAL!

2 Mins read

Hold the phones and stop the presses – Gymkhana GRiD’s off-the-hook 2015 European Gauntlet final is now set to touch down in the UK on the 24th and 25th October.

Epic plans were in the pipeline to bring a weekend of tyre slaying and noise to Athens, but unfortunately the current economic climate in Greece meant that GRiD had to turn and burn with a venue change. The big news is that instead of staging an invasion in Greece, GRiD will now be scarring the blacktop at the UK’s home of European Drag Racing – Santa Pod Raceway.

If that wasn’t enough, the lineup of athletes is looking bigger ever. Head Hoonigan in Charge Ken Block will be rolling into town in his infamous Ford Mustang ‘Hoonicorn’ RTR. He will be joined by Liam Doran, Andre Villa, Nicolas Hamilton, Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni, Shane Lynch, Buttsy Butler, Fail Crew, Team Japspeed and Dmtriy Illyuk. Of course GRiD hero Luke Woodham will also be back in action taking on all challenges to his championship crown.

GRiD held it’s first European season ending finale at the Northamptonshire venue in 2012. The tyre-slaying euro-debut event three years ago, saw Ken Block, Vaughn Gittin Jr, and Liam Doran tear up the black top, drift around tanks, and put on the world’s first ever Monster Energy twin-demo featuring a 600bhp Ford Fiesta and a 850bhp Ford Mustang.

“I’m stoked that the Gymkhana GRiD European final is heading back to the UK now,” said Ken. “Santa Pod hosted the official debut of the Gymkhana GRiD European Gauntlet finals in 2012, and I had a blast demoing with my Monster Energy team-mates Vaughn Gittin Jr and Liam Doran. Of course it’s always disappointing when plans for events fall through; everyone was looking forward to taking GRiD to Athens, but the economic situation in Greece forced our hand. We’ve locked in an awesome lineup of athletes and guests for Santa Pod now though, and I’ll be demoing the Hoonicorn RTR. It’s going to be a very special weekend for sure.”
