Supercup Stars Amongst Century Motorsport Entry For Dubai 24

1 Mins read

Century Motorsport have announced they are making their Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai debut in January, with their Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup stars Tom Oliphant and Ollie Jackson amongst the driver line-up.

The Warwickshire-based outfit will take two Ginetta G55 GT4’s to the Middle East for their first assault on the 24 Hour race around the 3.34m Dubai Autodrome circuit.

2015 Supercup champion Oliphant will share the #229 car with Anna Walewska and Nathan Freke, who were recently confirmed as 2016 British GT team-mates, as well as British GT regular Aleksander Schjerpen.

The second car will be headed by former BTCC racer Jackson, with British GT4 front-runner David Pattison and GT Cup regular Steve Fresle alongside him in car #230.

“We are really looking forward to this new challenge,” said team partner Clive Freke. “Although it’s the first 24 Hour the team has competed in, we have prepared ourselves in the best way possible and have a workforce with history in Le Mans 24 Hour and Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hour.

“The Ginetta has won the SP3 class for the last five years and with our driver line ups, we hope to be at the very front and hope that one of our two cars will be able to take the top step of the podium.”

Both Oliphant and Jackson have previous experience of the event and took a class podium finish together last year in a Speedworks Motorsport Ginetta G50.

For Schjerpen, Fresle and Pattison it will mark a first 24 Hour race, whilst Walewska and Freke have previous experience in round-the-clock races.

“I am very much looking forward to racing in the Dubai 24 Hour again next year, having had a great showing in the 2015 race. I want to build on that experience and get the win,” said Oliphant.

“I joined up with Century again because they are a great team with a vast knowledge of the Ginetta but also because of the very strong driver line up they put forward. To win Dubai you need a strong driver line up that not only are quick, but are also a very safe pair of hands, which ours is.”
