Estoril LMP3 Debut For Supercup Ace Breeze

1 Mins read

Reigning Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup vice-champion Carl Breeze is set to make his LMP3 prototype debut this weekend in the 6 Hours of Estoril.

Breeze is one of five drivers making their Ginetta protoype debuts in the VdeV Endurance Championship season finale, with factory outfit Team LNT running a pair of their Ginetta-Nissan LMP3’s.

Supercup champion Tom Oliphant was offered the drive as part of his prize for winning the title, but with diary commitments forcing him out, runner-up Breeze has been handed the opportunity.

Breeze will share the car with fellow Ginetta stalwart Colin White, who receives the drive for winning the Supercup Am class title, as well as Ginetta newcomer Peter Belshaw.

For Breeze it brings to a close another successful campaign, having now finished in the championship top three in each of the seven seasons he’s raced in one-make Ginetta competition.

The 36 year old follows in the footsteps of his former Supercup rival Charlie Robertson in racing LMP3, with Robertson having won the European Le Mans Series class title this season with Sir Chris Hoy.

Team LNT are looking for a successful end to their VdeV season, having finished on the podium during each of their outings in the championship this year, including taking victory at Paul Ricard.

The second machine will be raced by factory driver Mike Simpson, Swedish racer Fredrik Blomstedt, who made an appearance in British GT this year, and Ginetta Racing Drivers Club graduate John Wall.

“What a line-up at Team LNT this weekend! Two Ginetta stalwarts and some fantastic GT racers, who have set the scene for some strong results for the factory team,” said Simpson.

It’s the first time any of them will have driven the car and it will be the first endurance race for at least two of the drivers. I’m looking forward to showing them just what the car can do!”
