Honda and Speedworks Handed Additional TBL For 2016 BTCC

1 Mins read

The official list of TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) allocations have been announced for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, Honda Yuasa Racing and Speedworks Motorsport both granted an additional licence.

Competitors had until the end of October to pay the deposit required for a 2016 licence, with the same deadline set for anyone wishing to apply for new or additional licences.

TBL rules for the coming season state that an entry which is unused for one round will make that particular licence void.

The system was introduced in 2014 with a maximum of 30 licences being made available for a minimum of three seasons, only Speedworks Motorsport granted an additional licence to bump their squad up to two for 2016. TOCA retained two further TBLs that may be loaned to a suitable entrant, but these will not be sold or permanently transferred.

Support Our Paras Racing had held two loaned licences for 2015, but have only retained one of these for 2016, while the works Honda Yuasa Racing squad have been granted the second to up the Manufacturer and Drivers’ Championship winners of 2015 to three cars for next season.

Speedworks Motorsport meanwhile take over the license lost by Welch Motorsport during the 2015 season – after the Proton squad withdrew the car of Andy Wilmot at Knockhill.
