Valtteri Bottas: “It was a great feeling on the podium”

1 Mins read

Valtteri Bottas secured only his second podium finish of 2015 after passing Daniil Kvyat on the restart following the safety car, and admitted his pleasure with the result at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Sunday.

The Williams Martini Racing driver felt his team made all the correct decisions throughout the race, including which tyres to use in the final stint, a decision that enabled him to make a move on Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Kvyat.

“I’m very pleased with the result today,” said Bottas on Sunday. “Every decision from the team on strategy was right, so I’m really delighted with what we achieved as a team.

“It feels so good, after so much bad luck recently and so much hard work, to get the reward. It was a great feeling on the podium; that was very special.”

Bottas reflected on the early clash with the Scuderia Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen that saw his fellow Finn retire from the race, their second clash in three races following an altercation on the final lap in Russia.

“Regarding the incident with one of the Ferraris,” said Bottas, “it was unlucky that it was me and him again but of course I didn’t want it to end up like that.”
