Xavier Mestelan Pinon Joins DS Virgin Racing

DS Virgin Racing have appointed Xavier Mestelan Pinon as the Head of DS Performance.

DS Performance was created by DS Automobiles as a Motorsport division ahead of their entry into Formula E this season with Virgin. The DS Performance area have contributed to the development of this seasons DSV-01 as it competes in the 2015/16 season, they also designed the cooling system, rear suspension and the transmission on the team’s cars; driven by Jean-Eric Vergne and Sam Bird.

A graduate from Estaca Engineering School, Pinon joined Citroën Sport in 1995. In 2000, he took charge of operations for Bruno Thiry’s Kit-Car in the European Championship and also Sébastien Loeb’s car in the Var Rally.

Pinon took charge of the Citroën teams WRC programme operations in 2001. He became the Head of the Technical Department in March 2005 before most recently in 2012, being appointed Deputy Director of Citroën Racing.

DS Virgin Racing confirm Xavier Mestelan Pinon will take charge from January 1 2016.
