Green And WDE Continue Clio Cup Partnership For 2016

1 Mins read

Rory Green will return to the Renault UK Clio Cup for a second season this year, once again linking up with front-runners WDE Motorsport.

Green made his debut in the series last season, making a positive start with a top ten finish on the second weekend of the year at Donington Park.

He would go on to secure his best finish of the season at Rockingham with a breakthrough fifth place, which helped him to twelfth in the final standings.

The 21 year old hopes to emerge as a regular front-runner this season, but will not complete a full campaign, with important university exams meaning he will miss Donington Park and Thruxton.

“I’m very happy to be back with WDE – I learnt a lot with them in 2015 and as my confidence in the car grew the results and lap times kept on improving,” said Green.

“I hope I can put that to good use and hit the ground running when the new season starts at Brands Hatch.

Green is WDE’s first confirmed signing for the 2016 season, with the team having expanded to four cars for the final two meetings of last year.

“It’s great to have Rory back on board for 2016. Things certainly started to gel very nicely for him in the second half of the 2015 season,” added WDE Team Principal Wayne Eason.

“I predict he will come back strongly and with a lot more assertiveness in 2016 as a result of everything he learnt last year.

“We are also close to announcing our other drivers and are hopeful this will be in the coming weeks.”
