JamSport Up To Three With Clio Cup Newcomer Robertson

1 Mins read

Leading Ford Fiesta racer Scott Robertson has been announced as JamSport Racing’s third driver for the 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup.

The 25 year old joins the grid after competing in Ford Fiesta racing for the past five seasons, in which he has previously raced with JamSport.

Eleven podium finishes including two wins helped Robertson to second overall in the BRSCC-run Fiesta Championship last season.

The Scotsman is the latest driver to make the step across from Fiestas to Clios, having competed against the likes of Rory Collingbourne, Rory Green and George Jackson in 2014.

“I’ve seen the UK Clio Cup in action and really want a piece of it,” said Robertson. “A number of drivers I’ve raced against have made the step up to it and now it’s my time to make that step.

“I would like to have a shot at racing in the BTCC one day and this championship is very definitely the place to make that happen.”

Robertson is teaming up with fellow ex-Fiesta racer Tom Grundy and Clio Cup front-runner Ant Whorton-Eales at JamSport for the 2016 campaign, with a fourth driver expected to be announced soon.

“I’ve raced with JamSport in Fiestas and have seen just how determined they are and having Ant and Tom as benchmarks is going to help me no end,” added Robertson.

JamSport Team Principal Jamie Going commented: “We’ve seen some terrific form from Scott in our Fiesta and very definitely feel now that the time is right for him to graduate to the UK Clio Cup.

“He is a real talent and, with Ant and Tom also in our team, we are all hopeful of having three cars fighting for wins and podium results in the championship this season.”
