Yu Kanamaru joins Teo Martin Motorsport

1 Mins read

Highly rated Japanese racer Yu Kanamaru has been announced as the first driver for Teo Martin Motorsport’s debut season in Formula V8 3.5.

The twenty-one-year-old steps up full time in the series having competed in three rounds of its former inception – the Formula Renault 3.5 Series – in 2015 with Pons Racing having raced primarily in the EuroFormula Open championship with Emilio de Villota Motorsport.

“First of all, I want to thank Teo for giving me this opportunity,” said Kanamaru. “This championship will not be easy, sure, but I only see a bright future and the potential of this team.

“I will give my best to win some races and I hope to contribute to the beginning of this new chapter.”

Team owner Teo Martin has welcomed the news that the Japanese ace has joined the team for their rookie season, and believes he can have a strong 2016.

“We are delighted to have Yu in the team for the start of this season’s Formula V8 3.5,” said Martin. “He did a good job in his debut in the World Series last year.

“He is a fast and talented young driver who has already shown his skills with these cars, so I’m sure he can contribute a lot in this 2016.”
