Up-and-coming Russian star Nikita Zlobin has become Teo Martin Motorsport’s first confirmed driver for the 2016 EuroFormula Open championship.
The nineteen-year-old will make his series debut this season after racing part campaigns in both Auto GP and the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2015, the latter with Pons Racing in which current Teo Martin Motorsport team boss Emilio de Villota was involved.
“This year I think it’s a good chance for me to show myself and to prove my talent and this team is surely a good choice for that,” revealed Zlobin, who brings the backing of SMP Racing with him to the team.
“I know Emilio since I’ve done 3.5 last year, I’ve been already working with my engineer in another category, mechanics are good, they’re all professionals and I enjoy to work with this people, so I think we gonna be strong.”
Team Owner Teo Martin has welcomed Zlobin to the team, and believes the relationship with the Russian driver could be a long and productive one over a number of years.
“We are very happy to unveil Nikita Zlobin us the first driver of our line-up,” said Martin. “Nikita is very young but he has shown talent and maturity in other categories as Formula Renault 3.5 or AutoGP last year, progressing steadily and working with the right attitude.
“We appreciate SMP Racing trust in our team for 2016. We hope it will be the beginning of a long lasting and successful relationship.”
