Team Cooksport have confirmed their second driver in four days for the 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup with the return of George Jackson for his second season in the tin-top championship.
Fresh off the back of Rory Collingbourne’s announcement on Friday, Jackson has been confirmed to be returning as his team-mate after a positive campaign together last year.
The 21 year old made the switch from JamSport Racing to Cooksport in the first half of the 2015 season, and went on to take eleven top ten finishes.
Jackson went on to take eighth in the final standings, with his best result of the season came at Rockingham in September with fourth place overall and a maiden Graduate Cup win.
“This year is all about building on what I achieved with Cooksport in my debut UK Clio Cup season when we showed we had the pace to be on the podium,” said Jackson.
“The team do a fantastic job and there’s the bonus of having a top touring car name like Josh as a mentor. I’m really up for it this year and want to be fighting for the top spots right from the off.”
Team Cooksport’s Josh Cook added: “George really came on strong with his pace, racecraft and aggression as 2015 progressed, and I’m delighted he and Rory will be team-mates with us again in 2016
“You can’t rush experience so, from a personal point of view, I’m really looking forward to working with them both again and I expect them to push one another and be fighting for the big positions this year…”
