Teo Martin Motorsport has completed their four-car line-up for the 2016 EuroFormula Open season by signing young Romanian driver Petru Florescu.
The seventeen-year-old moves up from racing in Formula 4 machinery in 2015 in the MSA Formula championship in the United Kingdom to race in the Formula 3 machinery in EuroFormula Open, and will join Nikita Zlobin, Jose Manuel Vilalta and Tatiana Calderon in the team.
Florescu secured a best finish of fourth place during his rookie MSA Formula season last year, and finished eleventh in the championship standings.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to race with Teo Martin Motorsport in the Euro Formula Open,” said Florescu.
“It’s a very professional team with a high desire to win and they have all the ingredients to help me reach my objectives. I am very much looking forward to racing the F3 car on European tracks!”
Team Principal Teo Martin is happy to bring Florescu into his four-car line-up for 2016, feeling the Romanian driver will be able to continue his career development with the team having had previous links with Emilio de Villota, who oversees the operations of Teo Martin Motorsport.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to work with Petru in 2016,” said Martin. “He started with Emilio de Villota Driving School and we have been following him during his MSA Formula Series season.
“He is developing into a very talented young driver. I am sure that with our experience in the category as a team Petru will be able to continue his development with us.”
