Rebellion and THIRIET by TDS Racing announce partnership

2 Mins read

Rebellion Racing and THIRIET by TDS Racing have announced a partnership for the 2016 season that will see Mathias Beche compete for both teams across two championships.

Beche will compete in the European Le Mans Series in an ORECA 05 LMP2 with THIRIET as well as the premiere endurance event in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while the Swiss driver will race in the other rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship with Rebellion.

It is a return to THIRIET by TDS Racing for Beche, after the Swiss driver raced in the ELMS championship with the outfit in 2011 and 2012, culminating in a LMP2 championship win in his second season, while he also claimed the runners-up spot with the team in that seasons 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I am very happy to be selected for my fourth season by the REBELLION Racing team,” said Beche, who will line-up alongside Nicolas Prost and Nick Heidfeld in the #12 AER-powered Rebellion R-One.

“Alongside my FIA WEC LMP1 program, I can align myself in ELMS, in a team I know very well and in partnership with REBELLION Racing. Racing at Le Mans 24 Hours in the LMP2 class with a car capable of winning the race would be very exciting.

“It’s a race that I dream of winning. Sportingly, I think the LMP2 this year will be the most contested category. It would be great to win the championship and win the Le Mans 24 Hours to promoting high the colors of REBELLION Racing and THIRIET by TDS Racing. “

The CEO of Rebellion Timepieces, Philippe Dubois has welcomed the partnership between Rebellion Racing and THIRIET by TDS Racing, which is in addition to its partnerships in Formula 1 and the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with THIRIET by TDS Racing,” said Dubois. “We are proud to become the official timing partner of the French team for the 2016 season.

“THIRIET by TDS Racing has a brilliant record in LMP2, they are professional competitors, passionate and ambitious, as we are at REBELLION Timepieces. It is a pride to count the THIRIET by TDS Racing team among our partners alongside our commitment in the FIA WEC LMP1 with REBELLION Racing, in Formula 1 with MANOR F1 Team and the FIA World Rallycross Championship.”

The third driver for Rebellion Racing for the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans will be announced at a later date, with the team set to decide whether to bring in an experienced hand alongside Prost and Heidfeld or bring in someone with some financial backing.

The team have also announced that they will be racing with Dunlop tyres in 2016, moving away from the Michelin rubber they had raced on since the return of the World Endurance Championship back in 2012.
