Austrian racer Ferdinand Habsburg will combine his Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and NEC championships with the EuroFormula Open series in 2016.
The eighteen-year-old had already confirmed to race in the two Formula Renault championships with Fortec Motorsports, but will also compete for DriveX School in EuroFormula Open when his schedule allows.
Habsburg competed in the recent Winter Series of the EuroFormula Open series at Paul Ricard, and claimed two podium finishes with DriveX, after debuting in the championship in the series finale of the 2015 main season with the team, securing a fourth place finish at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The Austrian also raced in five rounds of the Formula Renault NEC championship with Fortec, securing two top ten finishes, while also taking part in three rounds of the Eurocup series as a guest driver.
“I’m really excited to get my European season underway – it will be a very busy year where we can hopefully fight for some wins,” said Habsburg.
“I’m very happy to work with Fortec again in Formula Renault 2.0 because they have a great record of developing young drivers for a career in racing and I’m confident we can have lots of success together.
“I learned a lot from my time in New Zealand and I’m going into the season a lot more rounded and developed than last season – I can’t wait to get started!”
