Marcus Ericsson is confident that Sauber F1 Team has worked had to be in a good shape for the season-opener of the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship.

F1 returns to Albert Park Circuit this weekend, a circuit Ericsson believes is special due to the great atmosphere. The 2015 Australian Grand Prix is where the Swede scored his first points in the championship when he finished eighth for Sauber.

Despite the team waiting until the second pre-season test to launch their new car, the preparations during pre-season testing in Barcelona went well with Ericsson feeling comfortable in the C35.

“I cannot wait to finally kick off the 2016 Formula 1 season in Melbourne,” said Ericsson. “The Australian Grand Prix in Albert Park is always special as the atmosphere is great, I enjoy being in Australia. I also have great memories from last year as I scored my first points in Formula One there.

“Looking back to the last few weeks, the preparations during the test days in Barcelona went well, and I felt comfortable with the C35. Now we have to see how things work out during a race weekend. I am confident the team has worked hard to be in a good shape for the season opener in Melbourne.”
