1 Mins read

With the new Formula 1 season just around the corner, Mark Smith, the technical director of the Sauber F1 Team, has left the Swiss outfit.

The former Red Bull Racing and Caterham F1 Team technical director only joined Sauber last July, but with the Australian Grand Prix this weekend, Smith has departed the Hinwai-based team.

It is believed Smith left the team to return home to the United Kingdom due to personal reasons, with his replacement yet to be announced.

“The Technical Director of the Sauber F1 Team, Mark Smith, has decided to go back to the UK for family reasons,” said a statement from the team on Monday. “He has already left the company.

We would like to thank Mark for his efforts and we wish him all the best for his future.”
