Mattias Ekström has broken the monopoly of BMW, setting the fastest time on the third day of DTM testing. The Swedish driver completed 118 laps with a time of 1:32.964, followed by Daniel Juncadella‘s Mercedes-Benz and Martin Tomczyk‘s BMW.
During the morning session Ekström and Juncadella tested the 2017 specification tyres, to give Hankook valuable information as they look to develop their tyres and make it more interesting in terms of show. Both drivers haven’t said nothing about this test, so we have to wait to 2017 to know what type of test they were doing.
Today the variation in climate was totally different between morning and afternoon: the first part of the day was cool with light showers, with the afternoon sunny and partly cloudy. 15 drivers completed laps across both sessions. Di Resta, Paffet, Vietoris and Wickens will drive tomorrow at the last day of testing at Hockenheim.
