MSA British Rallycross Championship regular Craig Lomax is gearing up for his European Rallycross championship début this weekend as the series gets under way in Montalegre, Portugal.
The defending MSA British Super1600 Champion is in a positive but realistic mood ahead of the weekend as he goes up against 32 other competitors, “Of course I’m a little nervous because it’s a totally new ball game for us, were moving up a level and competing against the best drivers in the world.”
Lomax will be racing his Citroen C2 in the championship and has undergone a number of changes which should see the team on equal footing for the start of the season as they look to gain valuable championship points.
The Yorkshireman showed impressive pace at the recent Easter race weekend at Lydden Hill despite having to retire early as he ‘conserved resources’ for the upcoming weekend.
“If the car goes as well as it at Lydden we should be all good and all being well mixing it with some of the big names. It would be absolutely perfect if we can score some points from the round and not be last on the table.”
